✦ Platform Architecture

How SmartLogoz works.

SmartLogoz is a registry-driven Community Commerce Platform. Everything — businesses, communities, organizations, verification, categories, and locations — is structured data connected through intelligent services. Here's an approachable explanation of how it all fits together.

✦ The Registries

Six structured registries.

Every piece of data on SmartLogoz lives in a registry — a structured, queryable, extensible store. This is what makes the platform reliable, consistent, and infinitely scalable.

🏪

Business Registry

The central database of every business registered on SmartLogoz.

What it contains

  • Legal business name and EIN
  • Community identity codes
  • Category and subcategory
  • Services and products
  • Hours, address, and contact info
  • Social and platform connections

Why it matters

Every other part of the platform draws from the Business Registry. When a customer searches OurBloc, they're searching this registry — filtered, ranked, and displayed intelligently.

🏴

Community Registry

The structured catalog of every community identity available on the platform.

What it contains

  • 23+ identity categories (Black-owned, Woman-owned, etc.)
  • Cultural and heritage groupings
  • Unique geometric symbol per community
  • Privacy settings (visible badge vs. invisible-but-discoverable)
  • Community landing page configuration

Why it matters

The Community Registry is what makes SmartLogoz different from a generic directory. Businesses don't just list keywords — they declare structured, verifiable community memberships that power intelligent search.

🏛️

Organization Registry

A first-class directory of chambers of commerce, nonprofits, alliances, and community associations.

What it contains

  • Organization type and mission
  • Member business listings
  • Events and programming
  • Geographic reach
  • Featured content and partnerships

Why it matters

Organizations are infrastructure. When a chamber of commerce lists their members, every member gains visibility. The Organization Registry creates an institutional layer that strengthens the entire ecosystem.

Verification Registry

A tiered trust system for confirming that businesses and organizations are legitimate.

What it contains

  • Self-declared (default at registration)
  • Document-verified (IRS CP 575, state filing)
  • Premium verified (enhanced trust tier)
  • Verification audit log
  • Appeals and resubmission workflow

Why it matters

Verification exists to protect consumers. When a customer sees a ✅ badge on a business profile, they know a human reviewed a government-issued document. This is not algorithmic — it's deliberate.

📂

Category Registry

A structured taxonomy of business types — from restaurants and retail to nonprofits and tradespeople.

What it contains

  • Hierarchical category codes
  • Pop-up and mobile business types
  • Custom category support
  • Subcategory definitions
  • Taxonomy review queue for edge cases

Why it matters

Consistent categorization makes search accurate. The Category Registry ensures that a bakery, a catering company, and a food truck are all findable through the right filters — without requiring businesses to guess keywords.

📍

Location Registry

The address and geographic data layer for every registered business.

What it contains

  • Normalized addresses (via Google APIs)
  • Latitude and longitude coordinates
  • Place IDs for deduplication
  • Primary and secondary locations
  • Pop-up live location broadcasting

Why it matters

Location is central to community commerce. The Location Registry normalizes addresses, resolves duplicates, and provides the coordinates that power OurBloc's map. Pop-up businesses get a special live-broadcast layer on top.

✦ The Services

Six services that connect the registries.

Registries store the data. Services act on it — searching, geocoding, notifying, verifying, exporting.

🔍

Search Service

Full-text + attribute-filtered search across all registries. Supports community codes, language filters, geo-radius, verification tier, and sort by relevance, rating, or distance. Powers both OurBloc and the SmartLogoz website.

🗺️

Location Service

Centralizes all Google Maps API interactions — map rendering, marker management, Places autocomplete, address normalization, and reverse geocoding. Components never call the Maps API directly.

🔔

Notification Service

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) layer that sends scheduled and live push notifications. Handles D-7 alerts, D-3 alerts, morning-of reminders, and real-time go-live fan-out — automatically, for every pop-up business.

Verification Service

Document intake, review workflow, and tier assignment for business verification. Supports IRS CP 575, Secretary of State filings, and business bank statements. All reviews are human-conducted.

📦

Export Service

Generates platform-specific SmartLogo exports in 25+ presets — Instagram, Google Business, Yelp, Etsy, Amazon, DoorDash, LinkedIn, and more. Each export is correctly sized and named.

🧠

AI Extension Points

Optional, feature-flagged extension points for AI assistance — profile enrichment, community classification, search expansion, and content moderation. Disabled by default. Never used without explicit operator configuration.

✦ How It All Connects

Every part talks to every other part.

The registries and services don't operate in isolation — they're wired together to create a coherent platform experience.

BusinessCommunity Registry

Community codes declared at registration — each with visibility and discoverability settings.

BusinessOrganization Registry

Organizations list member businesses; member businesses gain reflected visibility in org profiles.

BusinessOurBloc Map

Every registered business with an active subscription appears automatically — no separate listing needed.

ConsumerSearch Service

OurBloc filters use the Search Service — geo, community, language, verification, and rating all applied server-side.

OrganizationBusiness Registry

Organizations can feature member businesses, which surfaces them on org landing pages and community pages.

VerificationBusiness Profile

Verified tier is stored on the business profile and surfaced in search rankings and OurBloc badges.

Why registry-driven architecture?

Most business directories are flat — a searchable list of records. SmartLogoz is structured differently. Every entity (business, community, organization) is defined by a registry — a controlled, schema-driven store with strict types, validations, and relationships.

This means that when a new community identity is added, it automatically appears in search filters, community landing pages, badge overlays, OurBloc, and analytics — without changing any application code.

It means that when verification rules change, they change in one place and propagate everywhere. That when an organization gains a new member, that member's visibility updates across the entire platform automatically.

Registry-driven architecture is what allows SmartLogoz to grow from 23 communities to 230 communities, from hundreds of businesses to hundreds of thousands, without redesigning the platform.
